Sign Up and Account Completion: Once you sign up for an account with Lifeboat, you will be emailed a link to USPS Form 1583. We will need the completed form returned to us along with copy of 2 forms of acceptable ID. We cannot complete your account setup until we have this information on file. Incoming mail, packages, and freight sent to incomplete accounts may be refused until this documentation is submitted. We reserve the right to ask for additional documentation on a case by case by basis. We reserve the right to refuse to do business with anyone, at our sole discretion.
Incoming Mail/Packages/Freight: Lifeboat is a holding station that provides inspection, consolidation, and forwarding service for mail, packages, and freight. Lifeboat is not the merchant of record and we do not take possession of any incoming mail, packages, or freight. Lifeboat will enter your incoming mail/packages/freight as items that will appear in your suite, for the purposes of being forwarded to your final destination. Each item will include a photo. The customer may select whatever delivery service they desire to ship items to Lifeboat, but this is not a guarantee that Lifeboat will receive what is shipped to us. Tracking is HIGHLY RECOMMENDED for incoming mail, packages, and freight to ensure delivery, but is not mandatory. Lifeboat will assist and cooperate as much as possible with any claims involving incoming mail, packages or freight that is damaged, lost, or stolen. Client is to be Named Consignee on all packages shipped to Lifeboat. Packages on which Lifeboat is the named consignee will be refused.
Damage/Theft/Loss to Incoming Mail/Packages/Freight: Lifeboat is not responsible for mail/packages/freight damaged, lost, or stolen while incoming from the point of purchase to our facility. We do not inspect mail, packages or freight unless you order and pay for this service. Our Inspection services will help identify obvious damage but this is not a guarantee that we can identify defects or damages, particularly with electronics. With our Advanced Inspection, we can determine if the electronics turn on and off, but we cannot guarantee that any/all features work properly. You may choose to have the merchandise returned to the point of purchase by either emailing us a shipping label or changing your delivery address of your package to the point of purchase and completing the Lifeboat checkout process. Lifeboat will assist and cooperate as much as possible with any claims involving incoming mail, packages or freight that is damaged, lost, or stolen.

If your items require more storage, you may be required to upgrade to a paid account at Lifeboat's discretion. If you complete zero (0) shipments from the Lifeboat warehouse over the course of six (6) consecutive months, your account may be locked at Lifeboat's sole discretion, and you may be required to upgrade to a paid account in order to unlock your account and access your packages. If your account remains locked for a course of 6 months and you fail to communicate with us regarding your packages, your packages may be disposed of at Lifeboat's sole discretion and at your expense.
Customs Duties/VAT on incoming mail, packages, and freight: You can use your Lifeboat address to obtain merchandise from anywhere in the world. Merchandise acquired from within the United States and its territories can be delivered to our facility duty-free. If you choose to buy merchandise outside the USA, Lifeboat may be assessed with Duties (taxes) to have this merchandise delivered. The customer is responsible for all Duties, costs, and fees associated with the delivery of incoming mail, packages, and freight. If you choose to have merchandise from outside the USA forwarded, we recommend using a Post service.
Customs Duties/VAT on outgoing mail, packages, and freight: Lifeboat cannot determine the value of incoming merchandise, whether it be new or used, purchased at full retail or at a discount. As part of Checkout, the customer is responsible for the accurate declaration and description of the mail, package, or freight being forwarded. International orders may be subject to Customs taxes + fees in association with the declaration, and Lifeboat is not responsible for any of these taxes + fees incurred by you. Lifeboat is not responsible for any taxes, fees, or fines associated with an inaccurate declaration or description associated with your package. If you fail to pay these fees or inaccurately describe your shipment and your order is returned to us, you will be responsible for all the costs associated with returning the item to us (including any/all shipping charges, taxes and insurance), and the cost of reshipping the same order. We will attempt to notify you if your customs description seems to be invalid, but we cannot guarantee that we will catch an invalid customs description. If your package is returned due to an invalid description, you are responsible for shipping it again.
Occasionally, Lifeboat may incorrectly enter a customs value or description. If this happens, it is YOUR responsibility to have your country's customs hold the item while we send a corrected invoice. Lifeboat is not responsible if you pay the incorrect duties due to an incorrect description or value.
Returned Orders: Once an order is placed on our website, it is the customer’s responsibility to track and claim the order. You may be required to provide a signature upon delivery. Lifeboat is not responsible for delays associated with delivery. If your order is returned to us for any reason, you will be responsible for all the costs associated with returning the item to us (including any/all shipping charges, taxes and insurance), and the cost of reshipping the same order.
Damage/Theft/Loss to Outgoing Mail/Packages/Freight: If an order being shipped to you is lost, stolen, or damaged, please let us know immediately. We can file a claim with our insurance company and compensate you. To file a claim: we will require a notarized affidavit, evidence of damage or loss, contact information from the original point of purchase, and an invoice from the point of purchase, validating the value of the item. If the invoice shows a value that is lower than the value you declared at the time of checkout, you will only be reimbursed for the lesser value. We can only reimburse up to the value you indicate at the time of checkout, in the item field "Declared Value." We encourage you to declare the value of your items at their true value. We need to be informed within 90 days of the ship date if there is an issue, after 90 days we cannot file a claim. Claims forwarded to us after 90 days will not be honored.
Consolidations: We are not responsible for claims that items are missing from a consolidated package. There is no way for us to verify that the original sender actually sent the item that is claimed to be missing. The only exception to this is if you order a package inspection, and specifically ask us to verify what is in the package. Additionally, we are not responsible for damage to consolidated items due to removal of the original shipping cartons. Shipping cartons provide protection but often take up space. If you wish to have the additional protection of the original shipping carton you must specify that we save original shipping cartons. There is a checkbox for this on the consolidation page.
Confidentiality. All communication, shipping rates, order details, and account fees between you and Lifeboat are strictly confidential. Failure to adhere to confidentiality is grounds for account suspension and/or cancellation.
Fraud: Lifeboat can and will cooperate with any investigations into fraud including but not limited to: identity theft, credit card fraud, and mail fraud. We reserve the right to reveal any/all information including copies of identification, addresses, email addresses, and phone numbers of any customer being investigated for fraud of any kind. Use of any non-Lifeboat sanctioned address format for incoming packages such as, but not limited to "Apt", "Apartment", "Suite", "Ste" or others will be looked at as possible fraud and the account will be flagged for further review. Use of a billing address other than the home address provided on the account 1583 form will be looked at as possible fraud, and the account will be flagged for further review.
Account Suspension / Cancellation: Lifeboat takes fraud very seriously and reserves the right to cancel and/or suspend accounts due to suspected fraud of any sort. When an account is suspended or cancelled Lifeboat will dispose of the items at the client's expense. Lifeboat may request proof of purchase for suspected fraudulent purchases.
